Our youth are a vital part of the life of this community, taking part in education, mission and other events as well as leading the congregation in worship at least once a year. There are many opportunities for fun and fellowship. We like digging into the big questions and having great discussions. We also have a strong heart for mission, and work on service projects locally — such as football Sunday afternoons at the East End Cooperative Ministry men’s shelter.
Sometimes our projects take us outside of Pittsburgh. In the past six years, we’ve had three mission trips to Nicaragua. We also spent a week learning about urban poverty issues and serving in a variety of inner city agencies in Los Angeles. A team of young people repaired houses and worked in a camp for disadvantaged youth in West Virginia.
Youth group meetings are held twice monthly, with special activities scheduled throughout the year. For fun we hang out at lock-ins, go ice skating, take retreats at Crestfield, and oh yeah, we like to eat.
