January Adult Education Offerings

Bible StudyJoin us for Adult Education opportunities at Sixth Presbyterian Church! Every Sunday in January, beginning January 10, there will be a new opportunity with a guest speaker about current events and social issues that are important to Sixth Church. All are welcome!

Sunday, January 10th at 10 a.m. in the Chapel

Emmett Patterson will be our guest to speak on the topic of “Justice, Faith, and Identity.” Emmett Patterson is a life-long member of First Presbyterian Church in Washington, Pa and a recent Public Health and Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies graduate of American University. His passion lies in community health education, particularly for LGBTQ and HIV-positive people as well as people with disabilities. He is a former Policy Institute Fellow with the National LGBTQ Task Force and the co-founder of Not Your Average Sex Talk, a peer-to-peer sexual education organization. He believes in intersectional justice, education as empowerment, and the power of storytelling.

Sunday, January 17th at 10 a.m. in the Chapel

Dr. Bev Gaddy, Associate Professor of Political Science at Pitt-Greensburg, will teach about Martin Luther King. Jr.’s “Letter from the Birmingham Jail.”

Sunday, January 24th at 10 a.m. in the Chapel

Rev. Dr. Vincent Kolb will share myths and facts about growing Presbyterian churches. He will share the latest data from Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) research services.
