Good care and curriculum for 3-year-olds through high school during fall/winter/spring.
Child Care during Worship
Care is available for infants through 3-year-olds for both the Sunday School and the Worship hours (during Worship only in the summer).
Children aged three through second grade attend part of the Worship hour, during which there is a special time for children. They spend the remaining time with caregivers.
On Wednesday mornings at 11:00 am, Pastor Kolb leads an exploration of the lectionary texts for the coming week in the parlor. No previous Bible knowledge is required.
Bible Study class does close reading from Hebrew and Greek texts in order to examine issues of the faith. Meets in the Chapel during the Sunday School hour.
Confirmation is the process by which our youth in grades 8 through 12 become members of the church. Confirmation class is generally held every other year. The process incorporates elements of service, worship, leadership and education over a four-to-five-month period, culminating in the youth joining the church, usually in the late spring.
A women’s group which calls itself the Lunch Bunch meets monthly for Bible Study combined with fellowship over lunch.
The Women’s Weekend in September, the Men’s in March, Family weekends and others at Camp Crestfield in Slippery Rock, all have an educational component.
The Fred Rogers Memorial Lecture Fund provides for periodic lectures, often in collaboration with other congregations, schools, and seminaries, that bring in notable speakers. In the past they have included John Dominic Crossan, Amy Jo Levine, James Carroll, and Marcus Borg.
